Day 45 – Rest day in Bismarck,ND

Date: 12.06.2018
Altitude: 0 ft (0 m)
Distance: 0 mi (0 km)
Total Altitude: 75777.6 ft (23097 m)
Total Distance: 3034.60 mi (4883.80 km)

Third rest day on my trip and it is the perfect timing for a rest day. Today is the halfway point of my trip, at least regarding the time that I still have available for my trip. Considering the distance I have already covered, I'm way past the halfway point. So this should make it easy to cover the remaining distance to Seattle in the remaining time and still leave a few days to explore Seattle.

In contrast to the other two rest days in Minneapolis and in Niagara Falls I didn't stay in Bismarck to do any sightseeing. I wanted to use the day just to give my legs some rest and not really do anything. This is the first day on my vacation/trip, I really got to rest. Still I didn't just relax, I also used the day to get some laundry done, plan the next couple days and do some shopping. I went to the sporting goods store close to the hotel to get a new water bottle since I lost one of my three water bottles along the way. Since I needed to buy a new one anyway, I went and got an insulated bottle, so that even on hot days the water stays cool a bit longer. Other than that, I didn't do anything today.

Conclusion for the day:

Every once in a while, it is nice to not having to do anything.
