Another beautiful day on the Olympic Peninsula. Today it was all blue sky's and it was even warmer than yesterday. This and the fact that I didn't had to deal with any headwinds on my route, made for a great ride. After already four days on the Olympic Peninsula, I have to say this is a fantastic place to be and I haven't even seen the rainforest yet. Tomorrow I should enter the rainforest.

Today started out great, with a nice breakfast in a lovely diner right by the sea. So I had a great view over the sea during breakfast. While I was sitting at the diner I spotted a bald eagle outside sitting on a pole. What a sight! It was still or again sitting there when I left the diner after breakfast, so I was able to get a nice picture of it. It is the first time I saw one so close, usually I only spot them somewhere in the distance. After such a good start to the day, it had to be a good ride to Forks, today. On my route today I didn't go to Forks directly, because that would have been only a really short ride. So instead, I cycled to La Push on the coast first and than came back and rode into Forks. On today's route I couldn't use any bike paths and had to stay on he highway. Still I enjoyed the ride a lot more than yesterdays ride. Except for about the first 6 miles, where I had to go back on highway 112, the roads had a wide shoulder. There was still a lot of traffic but with the wide shoulder it didn't affect me too much. It was still a constant up and down, just like the last few days. All this up and down made the ride on the Olympic Peninsula less relaxing than I thought, but it makes the ride so much more interesting. The route stayed for most of the route in the forest, except when I reached the coast. This made for a fantastic ride with some great scenery.

Conclusion for the day:

It was great to get to see a bald eagle so close.
