Today the last month of my bicycle trip started and it was a really bad one. Not that the ride or the weather was bad, but my credit card is not working anymore. Luckily I had some cash with me when I tried to pay for lunch, or it would have been really embarrassing. After it didn't work at the restaurant, I was still positive that only the restaurant had an issue with the card. But after I tried it at an ATM and it didn't work either I was getting a bit worried. After a call to the bank and credit card company, I was informed that my card is blocked because of a possible fraudulent charge. Unfortunately someone really tried to use my credit card information to buy something online, meaning the card stays blocked. Now I have to call the bank each time I need to pay for a hotel, so they can unblock it for a short time. Doing this for the next couple weeks will be really annoying, but at most hotels it is not possible to pay cash.

Besides the problems with the credit card it was a great day. The weather was nice, although it started again out quit cold (45°F) and pretty cloudy. After a while the sun came out and the conditions were perfect for cycling. It was again an easy day, even with one longer climb in the beginning of the day. It was still only a short climb, the first really long climb will be on tomorrows route, with Sherman Pass. The route stayed on roads with limited traffic going through forests. It was just a beautiful scenery and I really enjoyed the ride, going through the forest with the occasional river along the way and the mountains in the distance. However, after I had the problems with my credit card, I couldn't really enjoy the ride anymore. Hopefully I will still enjoy my remaining time in the US.

Conclusion for the day:

It's amazing how dependent one is on the credit card, especially being in a foreign country.
