Today
was my last day in Seattle, I will fly back to Germany tomorrow. I
can't believe that it has already been three months since I left
Germany and started my journey across the USA on my bicycle. After
such a long time on my bike and almost every day being in a different
place, I packed up my bike and all my stuff today. Everything is
ready for me to fly back tomorrow. Getting the bike ready for the
transport on the plane was a bit more challenging than in April, when
I came to the USA. I was again able to get a cardboard box for my
bike at a bike shop, but this time the box was a lot smaller than the
one I got for my flight to the USA. This meant I had to take my bike
almost completely apart, in order to make it fit into the box. I
hope, because the box is quite a bit smaller, that will make it at
least somewhat easier to get the bike to the airport. The good think
is that the apartment is only a short distance from a LightRail
station, so I only have to carry the bike for a little while.
The
last nine days I did spend in Seattle to relax a little after my bike
trip. I have to say it felt good to be able to relax and not be on
the bike for a few days, but at the same time it felt strange not to
get on the bike in the morning and to go some place else. I still
enjoyed my time in Seattle and the weather was almost perfect the
whole time. Except for a day or day and a half when it was cloudy the
sun was shining the whole time. The apartment I was staying at was
perfectly located to explore the downtown area and most of the sights
of Seattle. I was able to explore everything on foot which was quite
nice. Since I had nine days to explore the city, I didn't do too many
thing in any one day, which made it nice and relaxing. Sure if I
wanted, I could have seen more in the the time I had available, but I
think I have seen all I wanted to see. A few highlights were probably
the Space Needle, the MoPOP and the Mariners Game. I really like
Seattle and it is nice city with lots to see/do, the only think that
left a bit of a negative impression were all the homeless people and
beggars on the streets. But I guess that is in general a problem of
big citys.
Conclusion
for the days:
Seattle
has a lot to offer and is a great city to visit.
